Student Staff Forum.

RHSU greatly values the ideas and feedback of all staff but as student staff engaged in varying shift patterns, we recognise that sometimes it may be difficult for your voice to be heard. That’s why we introduced the Student Staff Forum two years ago.

The Aims

The aim of the Student Staff Forum is to:

  • Enable student staff to participate in discussions around Union development and the implementation of relevant policies
  • Inform and consult with staff on employment issues with a view to improving current practices
  • Listen to feedback from student staff regarding the Union as a whole and relevant areas that could be developed.

Meetings

It’s our intention that the Student Staff Forum will provide a more formal channel of communication but within a relaxed setting over a coffee and possibly a cake once per term – so not a huge commitment and reps will be paid for their time!

Meetings will be co-chaired by the Head of Membership Support & Engagement and Head of Trading Services (Deputy Chief Executive). All reps will be asked what they would like to discuss at each meeting and, depending on agenda items, other staff members may be invited to join the meeting.

More detail on the forum can be found in the Student Staff Forum Policy & Procedure.

Student Staff Representative Roles

The role of a Student Staff Representative is to act as the voice of others from the student staff team. You will need to communicate regularly with your peers, making notes of questions, concerns and feedback as well as seeking their opinion on any issues that are discussed within Forum meetings.

If you think you might be interested then we are seeking applications from the following teams:

  • Duty Managers (Licenced and Retail)
  • Bars & Catering
  • Security
  • Union Shop
  • Technical Support Staff
  • Union Bus Drivers
  • Marketing & Communication
  • Helpdesk Assistants

How to apply

The application process is really easy. Simply send an email to  Abi Jesson, Head of Membership Support & Engagement by the deadline below.

Where there are five or fewer applications per team, all individuals will be invited to the Forum meetings. Where there are more than five applications for each team, a first come first served principle will be applied.
