I like to attend meetings with food...

Why Hello there,

I have had quite a hectic few weeks since we last spoke (howverydeardiarywasthat!). First of all it was my birthday!! I am now the grand old age of 22 which is hitting me harder than expected (working out freshers will have been born in 1993 was a particular low point!), saying that it was lovely to go home to Sunny Suffolk and I also discovered my patronus is an octopus which is strange but surprisingly cool.

So aside from ticking off another year alive- what else have I done? WELLLL….in no particular order; today I did my first presentation on my lonesome to the new lecturers at RHUL which was really nerve racking but in the end very enjoyable! I have also put on and run an International student social in Medicine where I learnt how to play guitar hero and ate too much pizza (Thank you Jamie for finding the guitars and introducing me to endless laughs), attended a meeting with King Asia and again eaten more food, met with Royal Holloway International to discuss some great ideas for the year ahead- yes we did eat more food (is there a theme occurring here?), arranged film nights (hopefully non-alcoholic) in the SU and Medicine alongside Sarah T, as well as have my first ever Professional Services Committee meeting, drawn up a freshers volunteering timetable, emailed all the freshers volunteers (you can still sign up- email president@su.rhul.ac.uk), been asked to judge the ‘best float’ for the FM team day (I accept food parcels if you’re reading this), talked about Harvard with Sarah T and Helen G, had to break into the RAG office after our lovely RAG girls locked themselves out but then discovered some really funny past RAG mags and naked calendars, been sent lots of cool drink aware beer mats and posters, been delivered roughly 3000 nightline bookmarks, jumped up and down and screamed at the announcement of DJ Luck and MC Neat coming to the SU spoken to Samaritans about an event in November, as a team we did our first presentation to students at the Clearing event, I’ve passed on my favourite icebreaker to said students And not-really-finally-by-I-am-aware-this-is-getting-long…I ordered around 2000 bottles of water to give out during nights out in Freshers’ week and another 2000 to give out whilst people move in!! so just TAKE THE WATER!

That’s the fun stuff that I can think off the top of my lunar sized head… I have also had a million emails; in particular regarding a Community Christmas Concert in the chapel which I am REALLY excited about and chaplaincy have just confirmed we can do!

I can’t think of what else to write other than, we have started to move back into the SU today and there is no easy way to say this but it looks A.MAZE.ZING. I am so excited it, and I just can’t hide it!

Essentially please know that I have been busy busy busy like a house elf and I will write / speak (yes- I want to video blog… apparently it’s called Vlogging? But I think it might be a silent V) next week where I will tell you all about FRESHERS’ WEEK and moreeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

If you’re going to party hard, make sure you’re playing safe.
