Candidate for VP Welfare and Diversity

James Kempster

I’m running for VP Welfare & Diversity to increase involvement between the SU and students, help strengthen links with outside facilities and to provide more opportunities to beat stress.

Increasing Involvement

Encouraging societies to set up Welfare officers to create easier access to help and information. This creates a more readily available point of contact and a network of support for students.

Strengthening Links

Following on from the closure of the campus sexual health clinic and the work that has been done this year as well as using my links within sexual health charities, I will be working to create long term bonds between the SU and local sexual health clinics/charities. This will help to put students at ease by having a more permanent and safe point of contact.

Beating Stress

Creating new and more frequent stress busting activates to help give people more ways to unwind and stay focused. One of these activities will involve breaking cardboard boxes, popping bubble wrap and hitting a punching back. This activity will be called ‘Break Time’ and will give students an opportunity to unwind and release stress.
