The above training is provided by an online Health & Safety provider called iHasco but it is administered in house by our HR team.

You will receive an email from iHasco with links to the training. Please make sure you set aside time outside of work to complete your training. You will be paid for this. Once you’ve completed it the HR team will receive a notification and will then add your time to the rota to ensure you are paid accordingly.

Please be aware that as this is mandatory training, and a requirement of compliance legislation, if you don’t complete it, you will be taken off the rota and you will be unable to accept any shifts until the training is complete.

Role Training

We have a comprehensive and unique training programme in place for all student staff roles according to the team you are in. Each training programme aims to provide you with the required knowledge to feel confident in your role and to help guide your professional development.

We have put together a training matrix for the majority of our roles to help you understand what training you will receive and what knowledge you should have and what tasks you should be confident to perform once all this training is complete.

Please note that further training opportunities can be made available to you under consultation with your line manager.

Personal Development

One of our key aims as an organisation is to make students more employable. While this applies equally to students who take up voluntary roles with us, for our student staff it means providing you with high quality job opportunities that help you develop key skills and experiences that will prepare you for your future careers. We also want to help you understand and be able to articulate the skills you have developed and how these can transfer to jobs externally.

It’s for this reason that we’ve developed the student leadership programme. For those of you in Supervisor positions and above, we will provide you with three opportunities in the year to understand, hone and articulate the skills you are developing.

These modules aren’t mandatory but, as we’ve said before, you will get the most out of your experience with us if you are an active and not a passive participant.

Leadership

Focused on developing your ability to lead yourself, lead the team and lead the task. This training programme has been designed as a 'pick and mix' series of modules that will help you develop your skills across these three key areas, according to your strengths and developmental needs.
