It's time to get your quiz skills geared up and ready to go! Whether you're an expert in literature, maths, music, science (or all of the above), we are looking for the next passionate team to represent Royal Holloway on the iconic BBC quiz show, University Challenge.
After reaching the semi-finals in last year's series of University Challenge, we couldn't be more excited to meet this year's team! Whether you're an expert in literature, maths, music, science (or all of the above), we're searching for the next passionate team to represent us on the iconic BBC quiz show, University Challenge.
The application process has now begun, and after our success in progressing through to the semi-finals, we're looking to form another strong team to take us to this year's live shows hosted by the newly-appointed ‘Quizmaster’ Amol Rajan.
What's it all about?
If you haven’t heard of University Challenge before, you’ve been missing out. The game itself consists of two teams of four students plus a reserve. The aim is to achieve as many points as possible - these are awarded for correct answers and are worth more if a bonus question is answered successfully.
If you’re lucky and bright enough to make it to the live shows, you’ll be competing against 27 other teams. These teams are eventually whittled down to only the best who will then battle it out in the final to become University Challenge champions.
How can I apply?
The process will begin with an online application that you can access by clicking the button below. If you're successful, you will be sent a variety of questions on different topics, which will reflect the obscurity of some of the frazzling questions asked on the show.

We will be running a couple of trial sessions on campus to give you a taste of how the show will be structured.

- Thursday 16 November, 18:00-21:00 @ Horton LT1
If you're successful in the application process you'll need to be available for interviews from 8 January 2024 to 2 February
Keep in mind that filming will take place over three periods:
- 27 February - 1 March 2024
- 25 March - 27 March 2024
- 23 April - 25 April 2024
