When campaigning to be SU President and VP Wellbeing & Diversity, Hannah and Nisha promised we would review the University Wellbeing Department, and we are excited to share what we learned over the last few months in this Student Insight Report.

What we learned

This report examines students’ positive and negative experiences accessing the services and receiving mental health and wellbeing support from the University Wellbeing Department while studying at Royal Holloway. This project began in May 2023 during last year’s Rate Your Union survey, and we shared the preliminary results from that survey in October. We received over 500 responses in the Wellbeing section of Rate Your Union, and over the summer months and throughout Term One we have been reviewing your feedback and benchmarking Royal Holloway’s student mental health and wellbeing services with other universities in the sector. Our findings and compiled list of recommendations from this work are presented in this final report.

Our aim at the Students’ Union is to make student life better, and we believe the proposed list of recommendations for the University Wellbeing Department will have a positive impact on current and prospective students’ experiences when seeking support and guidance while studying at Royal Holloway.

What's Next

This Student Insight Report and list of recommendations will be shared with key University stakeholders, and we will work hard to track the progress of their implementation of these recommendations.

At the Students’ Union, our most valuable contribution to the student body at Royal Holloway is to act as a platform for positive change, and we are only able to do this through your collective student voice. We would like to thank all students who took the time to share their feedback about their experiences with the Wellbeing Department because, without their contributions, this report would not exist. We look forward to watching the next steps of this project unfold and we will continue to update you on its progress.
