Where Can I Study on Campus?

VP Education Sharanya wants to ensure that education is accessible for all and that everyone has access to study spaces whenever they need it. We know every student works differently, so check out our handy list of study spaces.

Exam season is coming up and I’m sure you’re all looking for spaces on campus to sit and study.

As part of my manifesto, I wanted to make sure that education is accessible for all, meaning that everyone has access to study spaces whenever they need it. Some of you are working alongside your studies, have parent/carer responsibilities etc. and might need to do your uni work at different times than most people.

The Library

Last term, the library had to reduce its opening hours in Term One due to budget constraints. Many of you reached out to me and the rest of the Sabbatical Officer team about this, saying you wanted spaces to study overnight.

We took your concerns to the University and expressed the importance of 24/7 accessible study spaces and are happy to confirm that the library will return to its 24/7 opening hours in Terms Two and Three.

Located opposite Founder’s Building is the library (Emily Wilding Davison Building), which has been named in honour of one of Britain’s most famous suffragettes, and Royal Holloway alumna, Emily Wilding Davison.

Founder’s Reading Room

Heads up, Founder's Library is always open 24/7. For early birds or night owls who would like a quiet space to study overnight, Founder's Reading Room is a beautiful space that illustrates the fantastic history of our University.

Tommy’s Lounge, Students’ Union

Open every weekday (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday - 9am-10pm and Wednesday and Friday - 9am-6pm)

For students looking for a chill space to study, the newly refurbished Tommy‘s Lounge is the perfect space for you! Why not grab some food from the brand-new Tommy‘s Kitchen menu while you study?

PC Lab 1 – Computer Centre

As part of our work to get more study spaces for you on campus, we have managed to get computer access for you overnight! For early birds or night owls who need computer access - check out PC Lab 1 in the Computer Centre.

Recharge Zone - Windsor Building

Another space we have secured as a 24/7 study space is the Recharge Zone!

To complete your group work - check out the Recharge Zone located in the Windsor Building. You can find microwaves here too!
