Candidate for VP Societies & Sport

Hi there! My name is Caitlin and I am a 3rd year student studying politics, international relations and philosophy. I am also the current president of Lacrosse and would love it if you voted me as the vice president of societies and sports!

I am running for vice president of societies and sports because being a part of a sport, and lacrosse in particular, has made my university experience! And I would love to be able to give back to the university and societies and make everyone else's time here as good as mine!

Here are some of the things I want to achieve if I am successful and some of my main manifesto points:

  1. Equality and collaboration between societies and sports: I feel like, in the past, societies have not also been treated with the same attention that sports receive, and I would make sure that all societies and all sports receive the same attention, no matter how big or small they are.
  2. Inclusion and diversity: as a neurodivergent and queer woman myself, I would never shy away from discussing taboo topics and also fighting for diversity and against discrimination. I will make sure that every person feels welcome and included within the students union.
  3. Facility allocation: Now, I am aware that this may not apply to everyone, however, I do know that may clubs are affected by this. I will try and lobby both the student union and the sports centre to make sure that every club has space to store equipment that is easily accessible.
  4. Better feedback and communication between SU and clubs: I will plan to gain feedback from clubs individually as much as I can, and to also gain wider feedback more often. I believe that speaking to clubs individually, where possible, will help to build a bridge between the SU and the societies and sports teams.

Aside from just my manifesto points, I have experience already leading a team and leading a club. I believe in my time as president of lacrosse that I have experienced many trials and tribulations so I do believe I am ready to lead on a larger scale!

Thanks for reading, I do hope you vote for me so that I can fight for you and represent you!
