Colossus' Sports Personality of the Year

The submissions are in for this year's Colossus' Sports Personality of the Year award and we're delighted to announce the shortlist of outstanding individuals who will be competing for the prestigious title. Now it's time for you to cast your vote and decide who will take home this year's trophy.

This award is voted on by all 40 clubs, with each club will be able to nominate one person from their club for this award. Their nomination could be for any reason, from their outstanding performance, to their absolute dedication. It is up to the club to decide who they put forward. Once the nominations are in, the SCAC will shortlist the nominations to 8 candidates, where everyone with a sports club membership can vote for the individual they feel deserves to win!


Shortlisted Nominees

Tom Sanders Athletics

As President of Athletics, Tom has developed new relationships with local clubs, organised new equipment to widen our disciplines and dedicated his time to become a certified Coaching Assistant. As well as supporting all members with their techniques, he has also performed outstandingly on the track with notable LUCA wins and a historic first for the club, representing relay at BUCS.

Paige Lusher Cheerleading

As Treasurer of Cheer, Paige has been the pinnacle of organisation from creating termly payments to allowing more members to enter competitions. Her lively and enthusiastic character help to bring so much positivity to practice and we are so thankful for everything she has done.

Awen Saunders Fencing

Awen is an outstanding member of Fencing both on and off the piste. As President, he has supported the club tremendously through his coaching to develop other members skill sets. He is also the highest performing member of the Men's 1st Team (for 2 years running) and has stolen victory back for RHUL many times including a 23 unanswered point clash in Varsity last year.

Deon Chorley Men's Basketball

Deon is the definition of a true Bear. He has been dedicated, not just to his own development but the improvement of the team, club and individual players. He has stepped up countless times to run sessions for both the Men's & Women's teams and taking on multiple responsibilities in the club throughout his time at Royal Holloway.

Phoebe Spooner Netball

Phoebe's exceptional commitment to the club is evidenced through her re-organisation of socials, in her role as Social Sec. Her creativity and enthusiasm has ensured that all members feel integrated in the club, which is a real testament to her friendly presence. As a regular starting player for the 2s, her ability and positivity of the court is crucial.

Eleanor Grigg Riding

Eleanor's supportive and caring nature as President, ensures members enjoy their experience with Riding. Her organisation has also been key to maintaining moral and understanding this year. As well as this, she is our highest individual placing member of the A team and last year, was shortlisted for GB riders.

Gaia Canevari Volleyball

Gaia is an exceptional elite athlete and ecstatically proud Bear, who has taken Royal Holloway’s women’s volleyball team to the next level during her three years playing for them. She shares her passion for the sport with anyone who comes in contact with her. Her ability on court is outstanding and has supported the successful BUCS run we have had this year.

Chloe Sunshine Women's Football

From having no confidence in her ability, to fully immersing and believing in herself, Chloe has become a fundamental member of the Club. She is an individual who has proven to fulfil her potential on the field, and pushed her limits achieving so much in a short space of time. She will be greatly missed when she graduates this year and the club will have lost its ray of Sunshine!
