Manifesto

  • Improved communication between sports clubs and the SU.
Have monthly meetings with the Presidents of each sports club as well as setting up office hours for committee members to bring problems to me.
  • Improve club, SU and Coach links for all sports.
Outline job roles more specifically, ensure clubs understand my role, other SU employees roles, SOC's roles and their own roles once they are elected.

I plan to introduce a ‘Getting to know’ weekly article that will focus on SU roles or one of the SOC members. This will provide a brief summary of their role, along with their duties, office hours and how to contact them.

  • Increase student employability within sport through partially funded courses and qualifications.
National bodies of each sport, for example the RFU (Rugby), are keen to help Royal Holloway students to gain qualifications in refereeing and coaching.

This is something that will be promoted to each of the sports and the links will be made there to benefit the clubs and their members.

  • Improve transport logistics for clubs that want it.
The Shhh Bus is great for smaller clubs, but large clubs need bigger buses. Obtain a deal with a local coach company to provide transport for larger clubs to and from games.
  • Helping the clubs find appropriate sponsors in the surrounding areas and if they have contacts further afield, helping with contract negotiations.
  • Storage facilities at the sport centre and across campus need to be reorganised as well as managed more efficiently.
Manage/organise the storage facilities weekly and introduce a stock take system that makes it more organised.
  • Introduce a ‘Player of the week’.
A brief interview to promote the efforts of an individual of a club for something exceptional they did that week whilst playing for Royal Holloway.
  • Sponsorship.
If an SU wide sponsor is not going to be feasible this year, then allowing clubs to get their own kit sponsor is essential as it provides a large part of clubs funding.
  • Founders Field.
Utilise Founders field for LUSL games for sports such as Lacrosse. With the demand for pitch space increasing we need to be using all the pitches we have on campus.
  • Player Pathways within sport.
Increase the sporting offer to everyone by implementing pathways for beginners to BUCS players. Utilising social leagues far more.
