Student Group Taster Sessions

Nothing shapes your university journey more than the people you meet and the experiences you share together. Our student groups are the perfect way for you to get the most out of your time at Royal Holloway and we’ve got something for everyone with 130+ groups available for you to join.

Across the first two weeks of term, our societies and sports clubs will be putting on a variety of taster sessions for you to enjoy. You may already have a group in mind, or there's every chance you'll find a new passion - either way, you've got nothing to lose by attending!

Buddy Scheme

We put on loads of fun, informal and inclusive events during Freshers' Festival, and throughout the year.

However, we know it can sometimes be too daunting to try out a new activity on your own. That's why your VP Societies & Sport, Hannah Hockin, has created the Buddy Scheme - to help you get over those first-week nerves, meet new people and try out lots of new activities.

What is The Buddy Scheme?

A participation scheme that aims to match students that are interested in attending the same taster session, Give It A Go, and/or Active Lifestyle and Sport activity during the first two weeks of term. In the instance that there is no match, you can be assigned to a committee member of the taster you’re interested in attending if possible.

Hannah is hoping that the scheme will decrease the social anxiety around joining student groups and will open up the chance to build new friendships.

The scheme is open to all students, all you have to do is fill in the Buddy Scheme form. We’ll then match you up with another student who is interested in the same activity.
