As the new term dawns it’s time for us to reveal some big changes to Tommy’s Kitchen. Way back in May we conducted our annual Rate Your Union survey where you told us that you wanted better quality food and more options on the Tommy’s menu.
As the new term dawns it’s time for us to reveal some big changes to Tommy’s Kitchen. Way back in May we conducted our annual Rate Your Union survey where you told us that you wanted better quality food and more options on the Tommy’s menu.
Well you said it and we’ve listened and we’re very happy to announce our new menu, complete with locally sourced ingredients, milkshakes and pies… Yes, that’s right pies. And not just any pies either, we’ve teamed up with Pieminister to bring their range of award winning, hand crafted pies to the Union.
Made with free range British beef and responsibly-sourced ingredients, they’re an absolute delight. Check out the blackboard in Tommy’s for the full range – including extra tasty veggie options – and prices.
Fresh, Local Ingredients
Talking about ingredients, we’ve switched up our supplied and all our beef burgers are now 100% locally sourced Scotch beef while our brioche buns come from just down the road. It’s all part of our ongoing commitment to source locally where possible, giving you the best produce, while helping to reduce food mileage.
All our patties are now 6oz making our burgers more manageable, especially The Founder and the behemoth that is The Colossus, a burger consisting of three patties, three rashers of bacon, cheddar, pulled pork, lashings of BBQ sauce and eight onion rings! Dare you take it on?
The classics are still on the menu, including fish and veggie options, such as the “Any Fin Is Possible,” and “The Beaning of Life.” And if you’re in a hurry you can now grab and go with our range of hot paninis, grilled while you wait.
But we’re not just about the burgers, oh no!
New Drinks Range
Tommy’s is now serving up milkshakes in a range of flavours including Oreo, Reese’s Cup and vanilla while we’ve also introduced slushies – ideal in the current baking temperatures.
If you need that extra kick you can upgrade to a hardshake or add a shot of vodka/rum to your slush for a quid. They’ll definitely get you going!
Looking for a caffeine boost? We’ve revamped our coffee offering introducing a new value range with Americanos now available from £1.50 while we’ll be open from 8am throughout October ensuring you can always get a brew before that first lecture of the day.
Talking of opening hours, Tommy’s is now open from 9am (8am in October) through to 9pm with hot food being served up from 11am.
We’ve also moved live sport into the bar ensuring you can watch all the Champions League action with a pint and some cracking food throughout the week.
We’re always looking to improve Tommy’s and welcome all your feedback on the changes. You can get in touch by simply dropping us a message on Facebook, Twitter or via email.
