Blog: Socs, Colours and Laurels Awards

Your VP Societies & Media, Pippa Gentry, and VP Sport, Steff Milne, give us a throwback to this year's successful Socs and Colours Ball while previewing the upcoming Laurels Awards.

Now that the Easter break has ended and we’ve just about recovered from the chaos of term two, we wanted to do a little throwback and congratulate the winners of Socs and Colours one more time.

We hope everyone who attended both events enjoyed their night and the new venue as much as we did. I think it’s fair to say that both nights were a step up from previous years and we must send a massive thank you to the De Vere Beaumont Estate for hosting us.

It was amazing to be able to celebrate another year of achievements from our societies, sports clubs, and media outlets, and to recognise all of the hard work that has contributed to the successes of the past year.

A special mention to Fencing and Drama who won Club and Society of the Year respectively. Both groups have been exemplary this year and have set the bar incredibly high for next year.

Laurels Awards

However, the celebrations aren’t stopping with Socs and Colours balls. Laurels, our annual union wide awards ceremony, is just round the corner and nominations are open until midnight Wednesday 9 May. There are six different awards categories, rewarding everything from excellent representation as a course rep to outstanding impact of campaigns, activity or involvement in the Union.

Anyone can nominate but make sure you check out the criteria for each award to give you the best shot of winning.

We look forward to you joining us for another round of celebrations and can’t wait to read your nominations.
