An all women sabbatical team has been elected to lead the Students’ Union in the next academic term with female candidates also triumphing in the four available part-time positions.

The clean sweep, coming in the middle of Royal Holloway’s Women Inspire Fortnight, saw a record turnout of 2327 voters24.6% of the eligible electorate, an increase of 12.7% from last year – while 11,893 individual votes were cast across all the available roles.

Elected to the role of President, Education & Campaigns, was Natasha Barrett, with Laura Lewis elected Co-President, Welfare & Diversity. Pippa Gentry was elected Co-President, Societies & Media and Steff Milne Co-President, Sports & Development.

Voting across all positions was close and the Students’ Union wants to thank all the candidates, their campaign teams and the student body for their participation in this year’s elections. Over the past couple of weeks a wide range of views have been put forward by candidates who want to improve student life at Royal Holloway and this debate is essential in generating new ideas and campaigns so that the Students’ Union can do exactly that.

The Students’ Union looks forward to welcoming the newly elected officers to the team in July and embracing their ideas for change.
