Royal Holloway's Golf Club showcases the successful progress this season, going undefeated for over 15 games in a row!
The Royal Holloway Mixed First Golf Team have made it to 15 undefeated games in a row, with 14 victories and one draw away against the tricky Imperial team. These 15 games have taken them to the top of South Eastern 2A, along with a Conference Cup victory in 2017 to go alongside the 2016 triumph. Following an incredible season, including a promotion to the higher leagues, they gained the title of Royal Holloway’s Team of the Year in 2016.
Now, fighting it out in 1A, the golfers have made a strong start to the 2017-18 season. Recent games has seen them win a 4-2 victory over last season’s runners up, Reading, alongside a 6-0 drubbings of both Kings College London and, most recently, Portsmouth.
A total cumulative point difference of +54 over this period shows the power possessed by the squad. A key factor towards the impressive run of results has been the depth of the team.
There were several players of category one handicaps, with some astute captaincy decisions from last year’s captain Oli Pyle. Captaincy was passed down to ranks to this year’s leader, Matthew Gumble, who continues to impress at the top of the order by going undefeated in all games since joining in his first year in 2016.
