10K up for grabs through Santander Development Programme

Fancy winning a grant of £10,000 to support your professional and/or personal development? Find out how you can be in with a chance through the Santander Development Programme. VP Societies & Sport Lucy Brown tells you more.

Santander Universities UK has joined forces with Sporting Edge – a high-performance consultancy that blends powerful insights with proven psychology – to run a new and exciting learning experience for 19 students from Royal Holloway.

If you want the chance to get involved, send in your application here.

Who should apply?

Any Royal Holloway student can apply for the programme - as long as you can demonstrate having engaged in some way with self-development at university already, this programme is for you!

The programme is specifically designed to provide an additional development opportunity for students who have already undertaken some type of self-development at university.

To get you started, here are a few examples of roles that show your engagement with self-development:

  • committee member
  • academic rep
  • course rep
  • sports volunteer
  • part-time staff member
  • RH100 panellist

The application will be looking for you to discuss skills you have gained from these roles, how you would want to develop these skills further, and how this would benefit you in future employment.

You have until Monday 16 November to get your application in, so what are you waiting for?!

The programme

Successful candidates will complete an eight-hour online course which will focus on performance themes including Personal Drive, Learning Mindset, Confidence, and many more. At the end of each module, they will also have the opportunity to consolidate their learning and complete an online quiz.

The course will be available to complete from Monday 11 January 2021 until Friday 19 February 2021. The online material will be accessible to students until mid-March 2021 in case they want to review or revisit any of the information.

All students who complete the eight-hour content and quizzes will receive a digital certificate via email by the end of March.

Prize opportunity

The four students with the highest scores from all participating universities, will consequently win a Santander Development grant of £10,000 each. This grant is given to support the respective recipients with their professional and/or personal development (for example, funding tuition fees, paying for travel costs to interviews, supporting start-ups, etc.)

Students must complete all of the online tests before Friday 19 February in order to be able to win one of the four prizes. The winners will be informed on Wednesday 24 February 2021 via an email from the Director of Santander Universities UK.
