BUCS Round-Up 05/02/20

As January FINALLY draws to a close, we kick off the new month with a fresh bunch of results and news!

Netball made a great start to February in style, with two of their teams claiming victories in BUCS this week. The second team faced a travelling Brunel squad at home and they certainly delivered, as they blew their opposition away in a 45-17 win. The fourth team travelled away from home to Bucks New, where they also claimed a convincing victory, winning 48-9. Well done to all the girls involved!

Women’s Football played at home on the grass pitches and faced a Kingston first team. Much like the rest of their season, there were goals flying in with the Holloway girls claiming three points after securing a convincing 5-1 win.

With Varsity getting closer and closer, any small victory we get over our rivals gives us the confidence we need. Men’s Hockey's first team was the latest team to get one over on Surrey as they beat the stags 3-1. The boys are edging ever closer to winning the league this season, so keep the spirits high!

Lacrosse Men’s first team eased to a 16-1 win at home to an inferior Chichester side, so well done to all the boys for such a convincing win! Men’s Football first team continued their title charge as they headed down to Sussex to face Brighton's fourth team. Despite a self-confessed poor performance, the lads still managed to put four goals past Brighton in a 4-1 win. The boys now need one win and one draw from the last three games to win their league.

In LUSL Wednesday news, Ultimate Frisbee competed in an away fixture against St Mary’s, they successfully secured a 17-7 win, so well done team!

Also a special shout-out to the Swimming club who held their first-ever Club Championship last weekend. As part of this competition, the club was able to raise £614.77 for ‘help little feet 2 walk’ and Sports Able, which are two fantastic charities. A massive well done to everyone involved and I look forward to hearing the results from the competition. Also, make sure you look out for Swimming Club’s cake sale which they’ll be running soon!

Only 48 days until Varsity so keep your eyes peeled.
