Blog: Education Council and You

Your VP Education, Clem Jones, takes us through the ins and outs of Education Council.

Your campus is a really important space. It’s where a lot of people do a lot of things- from eating and sleeping, to learning and studying, the space on campus is critical to your time at university.

That’s why we’re dedicating this term’s Education Council to space. With the Emily Wilding Davison building freshly opened, we want to hear your thoughts and feedback on the areas you use to facilitate your education. We want to hear all of your thoughts on how you feel that the Davison building is doing.

Because let’s be honest, what’s more exciting than a body looking at the process of education and its relation to space on campus? I mean, maybe pizza, but guess what, we have that too! So really, you have no excuse not to come to Education Council.

To add to the excitement, we’ll also be joined by Graham Atkinson, the external consultant looking at how we run academic representation. It’ll be a great opportunity to see first-hand how we’re conducting our academic review, and to have a tangible impact on how academic representation works at Royal Holloway. You can find out more about that here!

So I heard there are Rep Elections too?

We’ll  be running elections for First Year Open Place Rep, Second Year Open Place Rep, Finalist Open Year Rep, Postgraduate Research Rep, and Postgraduate Taught Rep, so if you’re interested in being a student leader, and a voting member on all motions, then be sure to run!

We’ll be hosting the council in the SU Main Hall, on Tuesday 7 November at 6pm. We’d love to see you all there, and the more voices we have, the more effective our change will be! If you will be attending, please click going on our Facebook event so we know how many pizzas to order! Looking forward to seeing you there!
