Last Wednesday saw over 300 Royal Holloway Bears head over to Surrey Sports Park for the first ever Varsity! Our players and spectators filled the buses waiting at Founder's bus stop ready for a great day of sport and they weren’t disappointed.

It was amazing to see so many of our teams taking on the Surrey Stags and representing the Bears to the full. We may not have brought home the trophy but we left with a great deal of pride! The day wasn’t just about sport we also had our three media outlets collaborating with Surrey’s to produce some great videos, radio and photography. We also had some great wins in the following sports:

  • Women’s Volleyball
  • Women’s Basketball
  • Chess
  • Cheerleading
  • Men’s Fencing
  • Golf
  • Pole Fitness (draw)
  • Insanity Radio Rock Paper Scissors Varsity

I think it is safe to say that the final fixture of the day was an incredible experience. Men’s Basketball and Cheer gave us an intense and entertaining final. The Bears united as one and no one can deny that we destroyed Surrey with our chant, making Colossus extremely proud. Next year it’s over to us! Varsity 2018 will be on our turf next March (during term-time as well may I add) and is an event not to be missed! So rally your best teams and show Surrey how Royal Holloway does Varsity!
