Steff Milne, your VP Sports, gives an update on all her key aims and objectives for term two!

With a large variety of events happening over the course of the next ten weeks, I'm expecting this term to be very busy! I'm excited to get them organised and underway - if you're not sure what I'm on about, here's the big ones that I'll be working on this term.

Committee Training

We will be holding training sessions to equip all our amazing committee members with the tools they need for a successful term, with sessions focusing on Socs and Colours Ball nominations, finance, impact reporting and student group elections!

Alumni Sports Day

The big day is back! Will the students defend their title against our fierce alumni competitors? Eighteen different sports in one day, with only one winner! Head down to the sports centre on Saturday 13 January to catch all the action. Afterwards, you can celebrate the day by heading to Medicine for the after party, to hear the big announcement and see the Handcock Cup awarded.

Colours Ball

Situated in our new venue, The De Vere Beaumont Estate, this year’s Colours Ball awards ceremony is not to be missed. I can’t wait to celebrate all the amazing achievements of our clubs and individuals with you!

Varsity

On the 21 March we will be taking on the stags once again across a multitude of sports and societies across campus to see who will be crowned Varsity 2018 champions! We are still looking for volunteers acting as team liaisons, stewards and fan engagement (AKA Hypemen and facepainters) if you fancy getting involved drop me and email!

Outside of this, my main focuses for the term are:

 #HealthyU

We will be looking at healthy eating and how it impacts your studies. I'll be providing you with meal and snack ideas to eat on a student budget and showing you the best places to eat healthily on campus!

Bears Sponsor

I will finally be working on the final draft of the Bears sponsorship pack to begin sending this out to potential sponsors.

It’s Your Sports Centre - Make It Happen!

I will also be continuing to work with the sports centre to make sure they are providing a student focused and high quality experience across all aspects of their offer.

As always if there is anything you would like to talk to me about regarding any of these events/ campaigns please don’t hesitate to get in contact via email, add me on my Facebook, or come and visit me at the Union Helpdesk in the SU.

I can’t wait to see you all getting involved in all the exciting events and activities going on this term

VP Sport over and out!
