Don't Miss The Festival Of Volunteering

VP Societies & Media Sophia Bolton talks about her experience of volunteering at Royal Holloway and why you should check out the event on Wednesday 25 September.

On Wednesday 25 September Royal Holloway will be welcoming back it’s annual Festival of Volunteering, and I can’t encourage you enough to get involved!

Royal Holloway Volunteering has over 250 community partners and hundreds of ways for you to get involved both in the local community and abroad. This means there is a wealth of opportunity to develop personal skills, find something you’re passionate about and meet new people! There is also a vital chance to gain experience for those studying on visas which prevent them from working.

From a personal perspective, getting involved with Royal Holloway Volunteering was one of my most treasured experiences during my time as an undergraduate. Volunteering at the Forest Estate Community Hub every week teaching children to dance was not only rewarding, but helped me cultivate my leadership and teamwork skills. Interacting with the local community helped me feel Englefield Green truly was my home and getting out of the campus bubble also really helped my mental wellbeing - an added bonus!

The festival will be held in Founder’s Square between 11am and 3pm on Wednesday 25 September. You’ll have the opportunity to find out more about getting involved at Royal Holloway as well as chat to many external companies. Whether you’re passionate about saving turtles, supporting disabled athletes or helping at local schools, make sure to pop down and find out ways you can get involved!
