Executives Update: March 2021

Over the past few weeks, school reps, Collective convenors and student group members met with your VPs to discuss the projects that have been happening in the last few months, and to feed into the direction of new streams of work.

Previously, we updated you on what was to come from the third round of Executives this year. Over the past few weeks, school reps, Collective convenors and student group members met with your VPs to discuss the projects that have been happening in the last few months, and to feed into the direction of new streams of work.  As well as hearing updates from each of the Officers, they’ve been doing some really exciting things!

What are the Executives?

Education Executive

  • Updated the progress on emergency regulations and encouraged members to come to a Q&A hosted by the Students’ Union.
  • Received an update on the projects that school reps are working on including virtual study spaces and feedback on exams and assessments.
  • Discussed activities that can be run in term three to reduce stress and anxiety surrounding exams and assessments.
  • Considered student feedback regarding COVID-19 on areas such as testing, personal and public safety, support and academic activity.
  • Looking ahead to the future of education and all the changes that have been made within the University, identifying what has worked and what hasn’t.

Wellbeing, Community & Diversity Executive

  • Updated on the work that both VP Wellbeing & Diversity Henn Warwick and the Collectives are working on, including investigating a Radar Key scheme with the Disabled Students Collective and events from the LGBT+ Collective.
  • Outlined ideas for the development of a guidebook to support Collective Convenors in their role.
  • Looked ahead to the furthering of Collectives by focusing on ways to improve the election and handover processes, as well as the sort of activities in which they do.

Societies, Sports & Opportunities Executive

  • Updated on projects that VP Societies & Sport Lucy Brown has been working on, including shared exciting ideas for Society Awards and Colours Awards.
  • Discussed plans and ways to prepare for Student Group Elections.
  • Looked ahead to what activities could take place in term three with the changes to government guidelines set to come in throughout the term.
