The Packhorse is celebrating its first birthday, so we’ve compiled some fun facts to showcase the eventful year that it's had.
Today marks The Packhorse’s first birthday, and it’s safe to say that it’s been through quite an adventure since the beginning of its transformation in spring 2017.
To celebrate this awesome landmark, we welcome you to join us for the official birthday party on Thursday 24 May. And yes, you can expect to find a selection of drink specials, cake, hats, and party bags!
Just to give you a little insight into the journey it’s undergone over the past 12 months, we’ve compiled some fun Packhorse facts to showcase the eventful year that we’ve had.
Among the interesting occurrences witnessed, we have:
- Had a proposal (and hopefully we will get host the wedding party too).
- Helped to reunite a lost pupper with their owner.
- Had six birds join us for a pint.
- Witnessed countless (hopefully successful) first dates and kisses.
Fun Facts
We’ve helped to fuel your nights out, selling over 52,529 pints of beer (that’s 596.9 kegs), pouring 9,086 shots of Stoli and shaking up 17,894 cocktails. Remarkable right?
We also know that you guys love your Monkey’s Breakfast, having sold 8,181 this year, as well as 3,532 sandwiches and 8,496 burgers.
This wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work of our student staff – since October, they have racked up over 10,000 hours of work, processing a total of 98,921 separate transactions. Someone get the calculator out!
Aside from The Packhorse’s duties as a watering hole, it also serves to act as a space that your student groups and local community can utilise. This year, our rooms have been used for 290 student based activities, ranging from drama rehearsals to weekly society meetings. We have also held 91 College-based, 17 external and 246 different internal bookings - that's a whopping 644 bookings in total!
Rate Your Union
We love to know your thoughts on how we’re doing - our annual Rate Your Union survey is running until 1 June. This is your chance to have your say on the SU and allows us to act upon any areas highlighted for improvement.
This year’s survey includes a section dedicated to our Trading Services (think club nights, The Packhorse and our Union Bus service etc.) Make sure you let us know what you like, what you don’t like and what you would like to see more of. We really do listen to what you say, allowing you to shape the future of your university experience.
