Known as the biggest and most exclusive event of the year, Summer Ball is at the forefront of everyone’s minds. On 23 March, we announced the highly anticipated line-up for Summer Ball 2018, with Rudimental (DJ Set) taking the mantle as the main headliner, alongside Hardy Caprio, Holy Goof and more.

For all the Summer Ball veterans, it is very well known that this is not an event to miss – from partying in the scenic surroundings of Founder’s Building to all the quirky activities you can partake in, here are reasons as to why missing out on Summer Ball is a mistake for any Royal Holloway student:

The gastronomic experience

It is inevitable that partying till the early hours will leave you feeling quite peckish. For the people requiring sustenance to fuel their shape-cutting skills and fist-pumping, Summer Ball features a food court displaying a wide range of international cuisine. If you have a stamina that rivals that of Mo Farah, surviving till 6am grants you a free breakfast.

The picturesque party location

Taking place in one of the most historic buildings in the UK, little words are needed to describe the ambience that Founder’s Building brings. Here are a few reminders of what to expect instead:

The high-profile acts

For those who attended Summer Ball in previous years, we were fortunate to experience internationally renowned acts perform on our grounds, such as Chase & Status, Stormzy, Jaguar Skills and more. Summer Ball follows a format similar to that of a festival, presenting a variety of stages with interesting and different genres of music.

This year, for the first time ever, we'll be hosting three big stages, each with their own unique theme: the main Festival stage, the Carnival stage and the Funfair stage. The headline acts for the main Festival stage have already been announced, with Rudimental (DJ set), Hardy Caprio and Holy Goof.

Quirky activities to take part in

Aside from the live music, Summer Ball keeps you entertained until the early hours with a range of activities appropriate for every mood. Examples include fairground activities such as dodgems, a big ferris wheel, a casino, a VK bus photobooth and much more! With the success of prior years, it is safe to expect a bigger and better Summer Ball this year.
