ElectionsSchool Reps

Are you interested in making changes to the educational experience across the University? Well, luckily for you, nominations to become one of six school reps are now open!

Over the next three weeks, you’ll be able to nominate yourself to run in the election race to represent the academic interests of students within each of the six academic schools.

What are school reps and what do they do?

The role of school rep is voluntary, and supported by the Students’ Union in partnership with Royal Holloway in order to improve education across campus. School reps act as an important link between students and staff at Royal Holloway.

As a school rep, you would meet with key academic and school staff at least once per term to discuss strategic educational decisions. You would also sit on the Education Executive alongside the VP Education and the Postgraduate Taught, Postgraduate Research and BAME Collectives. Further to this, you would work with the department reps within the school to build up an understanding of what is working well and what could be improved across your school.

So basically, your impact would be huge!

What’s in it for me?

Along with representing students and making a change that can positively impact the educational experience for years to come, there are a range of benefits to being an academic rep.

From a year round development plan advancing your skills and knowledge to fulfil the role and push your CV further, to a monthly recognition scheme celebrating the hard work that reps do.

We also run a tiered rewards scheme, which sets out a series of opportunities to complete activities, all of which will tie in with being an engaged and high-performing representative.

How do I get involved?

Nominations open today and close on Wednesday 12 February at 5pm. All you need to do is click on the button below to nominate yourself!

Not sure if you want to run for a position, but know someone amazing? Why not nominate a friend? Not only have we moved our elections online this year but you can recommend a friend online too. All we need is your name and email, their name and email and why you think they’d be good for the role!
