Following the announcement of Her Majesty The Queen’s death today, the Students’ Union would like to make the following statement:
“Today many people across the nation and world are mourning the loss of Her Majesty The Queen, a historic and respected figure across the globe.
“In addition to her role as Queen, Elizabeth II was also a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. We offer our deepest sympathies to her family during this time of sorrow.
“Royal Holloway was founded to give women access to higher education and the institution warmly received Her Majesty in 1986 and 2014. As we reflect on the Queen’s life, we take inspiration from her ability to have a strong voice and not shy away from responsibility, while retaining a great sense of humour."
