Following on from Student Group Elections a month ago, we are excited to announce the successful candidates from the recent by-election of unfilled core positions (President, Treasurer and Secretary) within our societies, sports clubs, and media outlets.
A massive well done to everyone who stepped up to take on one of these positions, ensuring their groups do not fall dormant and becoming the driving force behind the group’s recovery from the pandemic.
A total of 482 votes from 229 voters were recorded, filling 65 vacant positions.
To see more committee positions being filled through this by-election is really rewarding, as it demonstrates how much students are committed to keeping their group active after such a challenging year as well as how integral student groups are to life at Royal Holloway.
Congratulations to everyone who has successfully been elected! Putting yourself up for any election can be daunting, let alone throwing in the responsibility of running a student group during a pandemic, so be proud that you decided to stand and get ready for the amazing experiences and opportunities you have coming your way.
For those of you who were not successful, please do not feel discouraged. Running in the election has provided you with valuable life experience you can include in a CV or job interview, and there is another by-election being run in Term One of next academic year for positions that still remain vacant!
New committee members will receive an email with more information, so keep an eye on your inbox for that.
Make sure to join our Facebook committee pages to receive up to date communication from the Student Opportunities team.

The most important next step is Student Group Training, which you can read about below.
We are so excited to work with you next year and see everything you go on to achieve! But before you begin, it is our responsibility to make sure you are fully prepared to run your group effectively in order to hit the ground running in September.
Part One of Student Group Training has been running this week for those students who were elected previously, but don’t worry because Part Two is coming up and will cover all the information you need to run your group. Also, we will be releasing recordings of Part One very shortly k so you can catch up on this content too!
This year, we are planning on utilising what we have learned through the pandemic and we will again be delivering Student Group Training online. The digital approach means you can be more comfortable and the sessions can be spread out, allowing you time to process the information you are receiving.
