It is that time of the year again, Paxman is returning and we need you to put him back in his place!
The application process for University Challenge has now begun and we are searching for the next passionate team to represent us.
Last year, our team was up against approximately 120 teams and they narrowly missed out on making the live recorded shows.
This year, we’re looking to build on the strong foundations of previous teams by going one better and reaching the live show hosted by the legendary ‘Quizmaster’ Jeremy Paxman.
If you haven’t heard of University Challenge before, you’ve been missing out, the game itself consists of two teams of four students plus a reserve. The aim is to achieve as many points as possible, they’re awarded for correct answers and they’re worth more if a bonus question is answered successfully.
If you’re lucky and bright enough to make it to the live shows, you’ll be competing against 27 other teams. These teams are eventually whittled down to only the best who will then battle it out in the final to become University Challenge champions.
The process will begin with an online application that you can access by clicking the button below. If you're successful then you will be invited to do a written test containing a variety of different topics, which will reflect the obscurity of some of the frazzling questions asked on the show.
The next stage of the selection process is being tested again as well as participating in a group exercise to see how the team dynamic may work out.
You’ll then be invited by the show’s producers to complete another series of tests and answer a range of different questions, if you pass this stage then you’ve made it to the live shows!
In the words of last year’s captain Marcel Armour, he described his journey as not being ‘nerve free’ but he said that making ‘friends’ during the competition was what mattered.
So with this in mind, if you think you have what it takes to claim the crown and knock the University of Edinburgh off its perch then please click the link below.
We wish you the best of luck!
