Update: Bright Ideas 13/02

Want to check out how Bright Ideas is getting along? Then look no further.

Term 2 is well underway, and as we begin to gear up for election season, why don’t we take a look back at this term’s Bright Ideas, as well as some updates that have come about?

Fresh Faces

Refund Students’ Tuition Due To Strike Action – Currently the most voted on Bright Idea of all time, this idea was submitted in response to students losing two weeks of teaching due to the UCU strikes. It’s a contentious issue – do you feel like you’re entitled to be reimbursed for the hours you’ve lost? Or are you standing in solidarity with lecturers? You can vote here, and make sure you attend the AGM where we’ll have our motion go to vote, with representatives from UCU present.

Blood Donation on Campus – It does what it says on the tin. Want to have the opportunity to donate blood on campus? Then make sure to give this idea a vote!

Passed Ideas and Updates

Make SU and Medicine Straw Free – Exciting stuff, because this is happening! We’re pleased to announce that our straws will be going plastic free, and we will now only be providing environmentally friendly paper straws. Now you can enjoy your VKs without the crushing weight of choking a turtle weighing on your conscience.

Transport and Commuting Students – Since we’ve been getting a lot of transport related Bright Ideas through, we’ve decided that firstly, we’re going to need more research and data before we present to the college. So keep an eye out as we move forwards with this, and for those of you who submitted the ideas, we’ll be in touch as to what you can do to help out!

It’s been a busy few weeks over at Bright Ideas, but we’re not done yet. Make sure you keep submitting and voting to get your voice heard!
