At the SU we’re all about recognising those people that contribute to making student life better. The You’re Valued awards are your way of thanking them!
Last Monday, a group of incredible Law students presented the first You’re Valued award of the year to David Yuratich, Senior Lecturer in Law and Criminology!
Charlie Brook, Oliver Snelgrove, Nica Andren, Suhail Mayor, and Yasmin Ilhan showed their appreciation by surprising David before a seminar with a special certificate and mug. It certainly brightened up a gloomy Monday morning!
David was nominated for his dedication to helping students and for going above and beyond to support the Law Society and the launch of the Law and Criminology Gazette. His encouragement, trustworthiness, passion and fairness have had a huge impact on the academic experience of his students and we’re thrilled to see him recognised for it.
Yasmin told us what it was like to present the award:
“I decided to nominate David as he has been such a supportive lecturer over the years, and you can just tell that he loves what he does and wants to be helpful to all students. It was so lovely to present the award to David as you could see the happiness he felt, particularly because I was able to do it with others who have a similar relationship with him.”
If you know someone who’s made an impact on your time at Royal Holloway, you can head to the You’re Valued page on our website. You can nominate anyone on campus – from your lecturer to your bus driver to a member of the catering team – with the only criteria being that they have to have demonstrated our values and made a positive impact on student life.
