About us

Humans vs Zombies is a virtual survival “tag” game running on a monthly basis! Humans use nerf guns to fight off the oncoming horde. Zombies band together and hunt down their classmates.

Puzzle your way through our missions, and join us for riddles, murder mysteries and scavenger hunts! You also get a collectable badge for each game as part of your membership!

In between games, we also host regular quiz nights and game nights amongst other events. We’ll even host an online version of our annual awards night and cocktail party later on in the year. So what are you waiting for? Join the largest game on campus!

By purchasing membership, you’ll be invited to participate in our monthly virtual games, each of which comes with its own unique badge. You’ll also be allowed to join our regular socials, which should run at least 2-4 times a month, and any other unique events that might take place.

Your membership cost will go towards getting the resources we might need to set up any events and to buy the badges.

Events and Activities

As a member of Humans vs Zombies, you would normally expect to take part in:

  • Six 24/7 games of HvZ, taking place over time spans ranging from a day to a week. An additional handful of Human vs Human games, where everyone is allowed a blaster.
  • The opportunity to develop your game design and leadership skills by helping to “moderate” the aforementioned games, taking charge on mission design and creating a game of your own.
  • A ticketed Halloween cocktail party and awards night cocktail party.
  • Collaborative alternative live action games with other societies.

However, to meet social guidelines, we’ve had to change our formula a bit! This means that for term one, you can expect:

  • Monthly virtual three-day games, played through several online platforms such as Discord, Facebook and Google Drive. These feature all sorts of puzzles and riddles to solve, as well as challenges you can undertake with your friends to compete for an advantage!
  • The opportunity to help develop and lead one such game as a ‘moderator’, collaborating with a team of others to show off your design skills and create an experience that players will enjoy! Also looks amazing on a CV.
  • Regular game nights, where we’ll be inviting you to come play a variety of online games to the tune of Quiplash and Tee K.O. No prior experience or purchase required!
  • Game design events (i.e. workshop) to help encourage and test your creative skills, as well as your critical thinking skills.
  • Semi-regular quiz nights run by the committee - come test your knowledge and aim to win with a group of your friends!
