Get Involved

Freshers’ FOMO is a very real phenomenon. As scary as it sounds, you can avoid catching it by jumping into university life and getting involved. Whether it be through a wristband, individual event tickets or membership to our sports clubs and societies, there’s something for everyone here.

Student Opportunities Membership
To join a society, sports club or media outlet you first need to grab yourself a Student Opportunities Membership. This membership fee contributes to the ‘behind the scenes’ costs that go into supporting each student group. This ranges from booking training, fixtures and transport hire, through to support with putting on events and trips.

Find your passion

We recognise that all our students have a talent that they shine in. Be it sporting prowess and the ability to knock a cheeky rabona top bins, to passionate debating on current world issues… or perhaps you have dancing abilities that would make Craig Revel Horwood score more than a four?

That’s where a Student Opportunities Membership comes in. Our one, two and three year packages enable you to join one of over 150 sports clubs, societies and media outlets on campus, each with their individual area of focus and unique personalities. Get involved and meet new people today.

Clubs and societies

Our 150+ student groups offer you the opportunity to get involved in such a wide variety of activities you won't know where to start.

Ever fancied becoming a fire spinner? Hell, it's a great party trick if you master it and while we're not promising anything, it's definitely a possibility if you join the Circus Society.

Or are you chasing sporting glory? Our clubs offer recreational, competitive and performance-focused sports opportunities. Whether it’s a casual game of Ultimate Frisbee or representing the Bears in competitions – you could even end up as league winners like Men's Rugby!

Media outlets

Orbital Magazine distributes a magazine with a variety of articles ranging from artist interviews to breaking news stories. Find up-to-date news about what’s happening on and off campus in their online articles.

Broadcasting around campus, Surrey and beyond - Insanity Radio 103.2FM is our resident radio station. With a schedule of chart and chat shows, specialist shows, and news broadcasts, you’re guaranteed great music, great presenters and great coverage.

Have an idea for a TV show? Pitch it to rhubarbTV and you might see yourself producing, filming, or starring in your own web series! They produce a range of online content such as gameshows, live streams, and interviews with acts on club nights.

Media outlets

Student group memberships
Memberships for individual societies, clubs and media outlets will be available on Monday 2 September. But don't feel like you commit to splashing the cash straight away - come down to Freshers' Fair on Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 September and meet them first, or attend one of our taster sessions and find your calling.
