academic representation

We are happy to say that Senior Course Reps will be returning for the 2023/24 academic year and recruitment is now open!

This year, we have been piloting a new Academic Representation system which saw the Department Rep role replaced with Senior Course Reps. We will be keeping this role for the next academic year so if you would like to bridge the gap between Course Reps and School Reps as part of the system then why not sign up now?

What does a Senior Course Rep do?

The role of Senior Course Rep is to gather feedback from course reps and provide feedback to staff at department level while supporting Course Reps as peers. Students who take on the Senior Course Rep role will also liaise with key contacts in their department to chair termly meetings with other reps and academic staff but don’t worry – we’re here to support you with this!

If you have previously been a Course Rep, the role is a great way of progressing to a higher level of representation and responsibility. If you have never been a Course Rep then this is a great leadership role to support your Course Reps and gain some valuable experience!

What kind of support is available?

Recruitment for this role takes place in Term Three so that we can train you up and make sure we have some level of representation in place over the summer period. You must attend a short training session to have your position as a Senior Course Rep confirmed so keep an eye out for more information coming soon...

Is there a limit on the number of reps for each School?

This role is voluntary and open to all undergraduates and postgraduate taught students from every academic department. There is no limit to the amount of Senior Course Reps that can sign up in their department to allow for multiple points of contact for Course Reps, School Reps, and academic staff, share the workload and give more people the chance to experience the role and responsibilities.

When is the deadline to sign up?

Signs up close on Sunday 4 June. If you have any questions, please get in touch with the Student Voice team at voice@su.rhul.ac.uk and they will be happy to help.

What about Course Rep roles?

If you would prefer to sign up for a Course Rep role, this will take place in Autumn Term so please keep your eyes peeled for further information once the new academic year starts.
