In light of recent news coverage, we want to express solidarity with the transgender community and condemn the discrimination towards trans and non-binary people.
Over the last week, we have witnessed blatant disregard for the trans community’s safety and dignity in the media, with comments legitimising the harassment which many trans people experience every day.
At the Students’ Union, we strive for inclusivity and equality in everything we do. All students have a right to feel safe, and we will always seek to protect the rights of marginalised groups across campus.
If you have been affected by recent events, please reach out to the University’s Wellbeing department at wellbeing@rhul.ac.uk. For further support, please contact our Advice Centre. You can also get in touch with LGBTQ+ Students Community Officer, Sam Bolton, at lgbt.community@royalholloway.su.
