priority 8

what is the RHSU priority 8?

The RHSU Priority 8 puts the power to shape the Students' Union's priorities directly into the hands of students. Rather than relying on Officer manifestos, you will get to vote on the top issues that matter most to you. The top 8 will become the key priorities that our elected Sabbatical Officers will focus on throughout the year, ensuring that the work of the Union is truly student-led.

the journey so far...

The move to the RHSU Priority 8 is all about making sure we are working on the issues you want us to work on. So over the last few months, we’ve been collecting data to ensure that the issues we’re bringing forward are what matter to you. This data has come from: our Speak Week campaign, Rate Your Union results, various survey results, discussions with the Student Executives, NSS feedback and lots more! From all this data, we were able to identify the top 20 key themes and concerns that you have shared with us.

why should I care?

This is your chance to directly influence the actions and campaigns that will make a difference during your time at Royal Holloway. By voting on the RHSU Priority 8, you ensure that our resources and efforts are focused on what really matters to you—whether it's improving campus facilities, supporting mental health services, enhancing academic experiences, or tackling sustainability.

And just so you know, we commit to always campaign for liberation issues and as such these are not included in the RHSU Priority 8.

what do you need to do now

and then what?

After the RHSU Priority 8 is selected, they will be the focus of the Students’ Union’s work for the next academic year. We’ll be working with the newly elected Officers to determining an action plan, which you will be able to check the progress on via our website.

the priorities.

These 20 key themes are currently being gathered from student feedback collected through projects such as Speak Week and Rate Your Union, as well as long-term research initiatives like Policy Inquiries. The top ranked 8 items will be your priorities for your sabbatical officers for 2026/27.
