Where you meet the eligibility criteria the organisation will automatically enrol you with NEST (National Employment Savings Trust).

Under this scheme the Students’ Union will contribute 3% to the pension scheme and the employee will also contribute 5%.

You may choose to opt out of this scheme but must do so directly with NEST. More information will be provided by HR following the commencement of your employment.

At the commencement of employment you will be issued with an SU staff discount card which entitles you to 10% discount off food and drinks in Tommy’s Kitchen and The Packhorse.

Twice a year we’ll be putting on a staff party to thank you for your hard work. These will be held in December, just in advance of the Christmas break, and in June, following the Summer Ball.

The bar and event will be run by the permanent staff team, giving you the night off to relax and enjoy a few drinks with colleagues.

If you are a third year, you will be entitled to a half price summer ball ticket and you won’t be expected to work the ball.

Training and development is vitally important to the organisation, to ensure the personal and professional continued growth and development of individuals but also to ensure the development of teams and the organisation as a whole.

We have in place a specific Training & Development pathway for each team, but ultimately you are responsible for your own training and development and you may identify other needs or opportunities. Please speak to your line manager about these.

Any member of student staff in a Supervisor or Duty Manager position will have access to the Student Leadership Programme which is a series of modules which have been specifically developed for students in leadership roles at Royal Holloway.

As part of our values driven culture, we offer Values Awards as a thank you and acknowledgement of behaviour and/or performance that goes over and above to embody any of our five values.

These awards have a monetary value of £5 to spend in any SU venue.
