Representing You

We’re here to represent you, which means the most important voices in the Students’ Union should be yours.

We provide numerous ways for you to get involved and have your say on how things work at the Students’ Union, ensuring students are at the heart of every decision we make.

Student Leaders

Every year, the student body elects a team of full-time Sabbatical Officers who lead the SU. Traditionally, students taking a ‘sabbatical’ year during their studies, but they also often run to take up the position once they have graduated.

Academic Reps

Elected School Reps work closely with voluntary Course/Senior Course Reps and staff in their Schools to help improve the educational experience. They sit on meetings to share student voice and make sure your feedback is being listened to and worked on.

As a new student, you can volunteer in September to become a course rep for your chosen degree programme, no matter your level of study. We’ll equip you with the tools to directly influence what happens on your course and give a voice to your peers. Community Officers

Lead our Inclusion and Academic Communities and ensure underrepresented groups have a platform to have their voices heard on campus and beyond. Head to our Communities page to discover how you can become part of a community at Royal Holloway.

Committee Members

Committee Members are the backbone of our student-led communities and societies. These dedicated volunteers take on leadership roles to organise events, manage communication, and ensure their group runs smoothly throughout the year.

All committee members are elected by their peers and supported by SU staff throughout their term. If you’re interested in running for a position, keep an eye out for upcoming elections or speak to your current committee!

Campaigns

Students like yourself direct the issues we campaign on and we’re not afraid to tackle complex pieces of policy to improve students’ rights. Alongside this, our Officers, Communities, and student groups lead the way on liberation campaigns such as Disability, LGBTQ+, Women’s, and Black History Month. Elections

We run elections across the academic year to elect students in a range of roles including Sabbatical Officers, School Reps, Community Officers and Societies, Sports and Opportunities Executive members. Regardless of whether you choose to run for a role, we always encourage you to exercise your right to democracy and get your voice heard!

Student Executives

We want students to collaborate more effectively on key issues and we achieve this through our three Student Executives: Education; Wellbeing, Community and Diversity; and Societies, Sports & Opportunities. Your Officers engage with a wide range of students when planning their work and students feed directly into the development of policy and campaigns in their area.
