Overview

As an organisation we really value the ideas and feedback of all staff but as student staff engaged in varying shift patterns across the organisation, we recognise that sometimes it may be difficult for your voice to be heard. That’s why we introduced the Student Staff Forum.

Overview

The aims of the Student Staff Forum are to:

  1. Enable student staff to participate in discussions around Union development and the implementation of relevant policies
  2. Inform and consult with staff on employment issues with a view to improving current practices
  3. Listen to feedback from student staff regarding the Union as a whole and relevant areas that could be developed.
How does it work?

Every October we ask student staff members who are interested in representing their peers at Student Staff Forum meetings simply to put themselves forward. There is no interview or election process – it’s simply a case of expressing your interest.

We aim to have one or two representatives from each of the student staff teams and we invite you to a meeting with two senior managers (usually the Head of Membership Support & Engagement, and the Head of Trading Services) once per term. These meetings are structured, with actions noted, but they aim to take place in a relaxed environment and each rep is paid for their time.
