Each year, sabbatical officers are elected to work full-time in the SU. They represent your views and opinions, run campaigns, and work alongside Union and University staff to make changes that positively impact your university experience.

Student Communities

Making sure you're valued and represented during your time at Royal Holloway is one of our top priorities. That's where our Student Communities come in, offering underrepresented groups a platform to have their voices heard.

Each Community is led by an elected student Community Officer who, alongside organising activities, events, and campaigns, works with the SU to secure the general interests and rights of students. They also run events during Welcome 2026, check the Events page for more information.

Student Communities

Representing your academic interests

Representing students' academic interests is one of the core purposes of the Students' Union, and links strongly to our strategic aim of improving students' education. One of the most prominent ways we do this is through our elected academic reps.

As a new student, you can volunteer to be the course rep for your degree programme once recruitment opens. [Placeholder: confirm 2026 recruitment opening date.] This is your chance to directly influence what happens on your course and give a voice to your peers.

SU Elections

The Students' Union is here to represent your views so your time studying at Royal Holloway is a positive and enjoyable experience. By being the collective voice of students, we're able to tackle pressing issues, lobby for social change, and campaign on your behalf using your views and opinions as guidance.

Nominations open for the SU Elections, where you can run to be one of our full-time paid sabbatical officers for the next academic year. Even if running isn't for you, it's important to use your voice when the voting period comes around. [Placeholder: confirm 2026/27 elections timeline.]
