Get Involved

Nothing shapes your university experience more than the people you meet and the experiences you share together. Our student groups are the perfect way for you to get the most out of your time at Royal Holloway and we’ve got something for everyone with 110+ groups available for you to join.

Find your passion

We recognise that all our students have a talent that they shine in. Be it sporting prowess and the ability to knock a cheeky rabona top bins, to passionate debating on current world issues… or perhaps you have dancing abilities that would make Craig Revel Horwood score more than a four?

That’s where our student groups come in - our sports clubs, societies and media outlets each have their individual area of focus and unique personalities. They’re always on the lookout for new members so get involved and meet new people today!

Clubs and Societies

Fancy running around campus with a nerf gun as part of a week-long survival tag game? It may sound mad but you can make it a reality with Humans vs Zombies!

Or maybe you’re a keen singer? There could be a part for you in Absolute Harmony – the biggest and best a capella choir on campus!

If it’s sporting endeavours you’re after, our clubs offer a mix of recreational, competitive and performance-focused opportunities.

Whether it’s a casual game of Pétanque or vying for the league title with American Football, you’ll soon know what it means to be part of the Bears family.

In order for institutions to be able to support students in their preparation for returning to competitive team sport, the majority of BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) leagues will take place between January and April 2021. The decision has also been made to postpone the start of LUSL (London Universities Sport Leagues) league and knockout activity until Term Two.

Student group memberships

Details are still being finalised but memberships for societies, clubs and media outlets will be available to purchase at some point in September. You can attend our Digital Freshers’ Fair on Tuesday 29 September and speak directly to the groups to find out about all the great stuff they get up to. We have removed the Student Opportunities membership fee from the start of the 2020/21 year, meaning the only money you pay is the amount you see on the individual group’s page.

Covid-19 update

Due to government guidelines around social distancing, it is safe to say Term One is going to have a very different look and feel for our student groups this year. While restrictions are easing and more activities are starting to be permitted, many groups will not be able to conduct activities in their usual manner. As a result, you’ll see a blended mix of online and physical activity – this will vary from group to group, so please get in contact with them individually and follow their social media pages for updates. You can also find out more about our groups at our Digital Freshers' Fair on Tuesday 29 September.
