We're committed to a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment across all our venues, shops and events. Everyone who uses them, members, guests and visitors, is expected to behave responsibly and respectfully.

Licensed venues

What gets you removed

As a licensed operator we have extra responsibilities under the Licensing Act 2003, so we may act immediately on behaviour that risks the safety, wellbeing or enjoyment of others. Examples include:

Excessive intoxicationIgnoring staff or securityUnauthorised entry or re-entrySmoking or vaping in non-designated areasVandalism or damageAbusive, threatening or aggressive behaviourHarassment, discrimination or sexual harassmentPhysical violence or assaultTheft or shopliftingMisusing safety equipment or alarmsUnauthorised alcoholIllegal substancesOffensive weaponsSpiking or putting others at risk

This list is an example only and isn't exhaustive.

What happens next

Possible outcomes

Depending on what happened, action can include any of the following. Where appropriate, incidents may be shared with the University, the Police or other relevant agencies.

Ejection

Removed from the venue on the night.

Disciplinary

Action under the Disciplinary Procedure.

Temporary ban

Excluded from SU venues and events for a set time.

Permanent ban

Excluded from SU venues and events for good.
