Royal Holloway Students’ Union is committed to providing a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment across all of our venues, shops and events.
All members, guests and visitors are expected to behave responsibly and respectfully when using Students’ Union services. Expected standards of behaviour are set out in Byelaw F of the Students’ Union Constitution, which outlines the Members’ Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure.
The Students’ Union also operates licensed venues and events and has additional responsibilities under the Licensing Act 2003. As a result, behaviour that risks the safety, wellbeing or enjoyment of others, or the operation of our venues, may result in immediate action being taken.
Examples of behaviour that may result in ejection from a venue, disciplinary action, temporary exclusion or permanent exclusion include:
- Excessive intoxication
- Failure to follow reasonable instructions from staff or security
- Unauthorised entry or attempted re-entry to a venue
- Smoking or vaping in non-designated areas
- Vandalism or damage to Students' Union property
- Abusive, threatening or aggressive behaviour
- Harassment, discrimination or sexual harassment
- Physical violence or assault
- Theft or shoplifting
- Misuse of safety equipment or emergency alarms
- Possession, consumption or supply of unauthorised alcohol
- Possession, consumption or supply of illegal substances
- Possession of offensive weapons
- Spiking or any behaviour that places others at risk
This list is provided as an example only and is not exhaustive. The Students’ Union reserves the right to investigate and take action in relation to any conduct that breaches its policies, byelaws or legal obligations.
Where appropriate, incidents may be shared with the University, Police or other relevant agencies. Individuals may be temporarily excluded from Students’ Union venues and events whilst an incident is reviewed or investigated. Disciplinary sanctions are applied in accordance with the Licensed Operations Code of Conduct Policy and are intended to be proportionate, fair and focused on maintaining a safe environment for all users.

Addendum
Members (Full, Associate, Ordinary, Life or Honorary) are permitted to sign in guests to the Students’ Union venues and events; and assume responsibility for their guests' actions whilst in attendance.
Individuals who breach the zero-tolerance policy will have their details taken and access restricted until the following Monday when the disciplinary panel decision will be made.
