If you’re looking to develop a new skill, flex your creative muscles, or simply unwind after a day of lectures, you’ll find something in our calendar of Give It A Go events.

These are smaller-scale events that are predominantly alcohol-free and focused on you meeting new people in a fun, relaxed and welcoming environment. Some highlights from Freshers' Festival include our Board Games Night, a Petting Zoo, a Trip to IKEA and loads more!

So whether you’re an adrenaline junkie, culture vulture or just love a bit of art and craft, we'll have something for you.

Sports Festival: 22nd September; Sports Centre; A whole day to try out exciting sports for free! Drop by a session led by enthusiastic club volunteers for the chance to discover something new and meet new friends!

Laser Quest: 23rd September; SU Venue; We're transforming the SU into an apocalyptic wasteland for the afternoon, so gather your best survival team and battle it out head-to-head!

Paint A Pot: 27th September; Tommy's Lounge; Add a little something extra to your new room! Perfect for holding a plant, pens, or collecting random stuff on your desk.

Fresher's Ball Alternative Social: 28th September; Windsor Building; If the ball isn't quite your style but you still want to celebrate your first week of University, then we've got all the fun you need! Just Dance, movies, games, crafts and more!

Give Dodgeball a Go: 30th September; Sports Hall; Relive the excitement of a sport you once loved and discover the thrill of the game all over again. Whether you're new to dodgeball or eager to jump back in, this is the perfect chance to get involved and have some fun!

Petting Zoo: 2nd October; SU Venue; Back once again to add some cute and furry fun to your week! Go on pet the goat... we know you want to!

Decorate a Journal: 2nd October; Tommy's Lounge; Do you always keep meaning to start a bullet journal or is this the year you finally get your life in order? If so come and get crafty in between classes and decorate a journal!

Give Netball A Go: 4th October; MY Courts; Reconnect with a sport you once enjoyed or try it out for the first time! Get involved, have fun, and see why Netball is a game loved by many!

Book Club: 10th October; Tommy's Lounge; For Black History Month we're diving into Bernadine Evaristo's novel Girl, Woman, Other! Grab a copy from the book swap shelf or bring your own, and get reading!

Create Your Own Energy Bites: 16th October; Student Lounge; Join us for an exciting, hands-on workshop where we’ll guide you through a quick and easy recipe that’s perfect for fuelling your daily activities, fitness goals, and sports adventures. With some help from ALS as well!
