Ideas Progress

Any ideas that are passed then proceed to the relevant decision making body within the Students' Union. On this page you can track the progress of all the ideas which have been passed.


SWIPE CARD SYSTEM FOR THE BACK GATE

  • 24 hour access has been approved by the college
  • Work on implementation will begin on 20th November
  • Trial period from 1st December
  • New lighting and CCTV to be installed

INTRODUCE A SEXUAL ASSAULT REPORTING FORM AND HOST SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS WEEK ON CAMPUS

  • Pippa Gentry is currently working on an annonymous sexual assault reporting form with Helen Groenendal
  • Sexual Assault Awareness Week, the "One in Three" campaign was held from the 22nd to the 26th of February and was a fantastic success.

LOBBY THE COLLEGE TO DIVEST FOSSIL FUELS

  • Research into policies is underway
  • Clem Jones to present idea and strategy to college
  • Multiple other sustainability projects are underway, including the coffee cup discount, bike racks, and sustainable cups

LOBBY THE COLLEGE TO LIBERATE THEIR CURRICULA

  • The Liberate Our Curriculum campaign was launched following the Women of Colour Collective's "Why is My Curriculum White?" panel discussion
  • Tasha Barrett has presented to Academic Board
  • A working group has been established

IMPROVE THE SERVICE OF THE SPORTS CENTRE

  • Steff Milne has conducted two surveying sessions, one at the Sports' Centre, and one at the library, generating just under 200 responses
  • The responses have now been compiled and will shortly be presented to the Sports' Centre
  • The following have been implemented:
    • New ab wheel
    • Resistance Bands ordered
    • Music regulation
    • Changing room deep clean scheduled.
    • More cleaning equipment
    • Cleaned all dumbbells
    • Staff cleaning/maintenance training.
    • Communication with SU (e.g. this campaign, Sarah & Adam’s meetings, SU presence on game days).

IMPROVE THE SERVICE OF THE HEALTH CENTRE

  • Multiple discussions with the college have taken place.
  • Free STI testing kits were given out during 'Let's Talk About Sex' week, and investigations are underway on how to implement this in a more permanent manner.
  • Willow Wong is currently investigating solutions to the lack of a sexual health clinic and collected feedback from Equalities Council.

  • Bring your own cup, and get 10p off your coffee.

ADDITIONAL PARKING ON CAMPUS

  • The issue was brough up at College/SU Executive meeting on 05/03/18, and we are awaiting a response

MAKE SU AND MEDICINE BAR STRAW FREE

  • Plastic straws have now been replaced by biodegradable paper straws! Read more here.

REFUND STUDENTS' TUTITION FEES DUE TO STRIKE ACTION

  • This idea has been implemented into the policy surrounding UCU Industrial action.
  • It calls on students to ask for their fees back so as to increase disruption.

LOBBY SWR AND TFL TO EXTEND OYSTER TO EGHAM

  • Letters to SWR and TFL has been sent, you can watch the video here!
  • An investigation into how we can best help commuting students is underway!

PROVIDE A FULL STI SCREENING/CONTRACEPTION CLINIC ON CAMPUS

  • We are currently investigating how to implement this idea.

CCTV IN THE LIBRARY!

  • This idea was brought up during the Library Users Advisory Group, however was rejected by the college
  • Further investigation is underway to examine other possibilities
