Welcome to Disability History Month 2026! This month is led by JJ, Disabled Students Community Officer and Neurodivergent Society. This month will explore the national theme, 'Disability, Politics and Democracy', taking shape as both an awareness campaign but engaging with conversation across the university to construct a lobbying agenda.
This campaign seeks to raise awareness through social media updates and informative posts spotlighting student experience, signposting support and resources as well as explainers on the importance of this year's national theme.
This year's Disability History Month will begin conversations with Wellbeing, Disability & Finance Services to find out what training their staff receive and provide student feedback on how they can improve their services for Disabled Students such as better declaring process to help teams find the right person to support student cases. This student voice will be collected in the form of a Policy Forum in November.
Throughout the month, events will be hosted by familiar student groups both on campus and along Egham High Street. We’ll also be taking to the stage for the return of the much-anticipated Disability Creativity Showcase at the Pride Hub, Egham, on Monday 23 November from 6pm.
If you identify as a student, staff or local community member with a disability, you can sign up now to perform in the showcase by completing this form, and to find out more information, check out the event page.
For more information on Disability History Month, check out this campaign page, or to chat about anything related to the Disabled Students Community, please feel free to reach out to JJ via Instagram or email.
No matter how you celebrate it’s bound to be an enjoyable time, and we’re looking forward to celebrating the month with all students across campus and beyond!
