Resits.

What is a Resit?

If you are asked to take part in resits, this means that you have to retake an assessment you failed without redoing the teaching. Resit marks are capped at 40% for Undergraduate students and 50% for postgraduate students, with some exceptions for extenuating circumstances.

If you failed up to 30 credits (Undergraduate) or up to 40 credits (Postgraduate), you can retake the relevant assessments in the Summer Vacation Assessment Period (provisional dates Monday 21 August to Friday 1 September 2023).

If you have failed too many credits, then you will have to wait until the next academic year, to resit your assessments.

There are no fees for resits, first sit, uncapped resit, or deferral of assessment without attendance.

Undergraduates: You will get your results at 10am on 14 September 2023 via Campus Connect. If you pass all your required assessments, you will progress to the next academic year and be able to enrol shortly after the release of results. If you do not pass, your School will be in contact to discuss your options.

Postgraduates: Your resit results will be published at 10am on 27 October 2023.

First Sits/ Uncapped Resits?

You are able to retake these assessments in the Summer Vacation Assessment Period (provisional dates Monday 21 August to Friday 1 September 2023).

EXCEPTIONS: Online exams and deadlines for some schools may fall outside of this period and students will be notified as soon as these dates are confirmed; however these will be no earlier than Monday 15 August. If you are a first-year who has progressed to their second year of study but has a module eligible for a retake, you will have to wait until the next academic year, 2023/24 to do so.

There is no charge for these resits.

Undergraduates: You will get your results at 10am on 14 September 2023 via Campus Connect. If you pass all your required assessments, you will progress to the next academic year. If you do not pass, your School will be in contact to discuss your options.

Postgraduates: Your resit results will be published at 10am on 27 October 2023.

Repeats

You must repeat all course assessments and re-engage with all the teaching again. Marks are not capped for these assessments.

As you are required to re-engage with all the course content and activities, repeats cannot occur until the next academic year, 2023/24.

There are charges for repeats. Fees vary according to the course credit value and weighting of the course. Once you have registered for your retakes an invoice will be billed to your student account and this can be accessed through the Finance tab on Campus Connect.
