Democracy Review Open Meeting

If you didn't already know, the Students' Union has been busy conducting a Democracy Review since August 2018. In short, we've reviewed our democratic structures, bodies and decision-making processes, with a goal of ensuring you are at the heart of every decision we make.

From the campaigns we run to the look and feel of Summer Ball, we’re planning on shaking up the status quo and giving you more of a say on more things than ever before.

Essentially it all boils down to one thing. The Students’ Union belongs to the students at Royal Holloway and we want to make sure that students make all the big calls.

In August we appointed an independent, external consultant to conduct a full review and he’s now delivered his findings to the Union’s senior leadership team. These have been distilled down to five big ideas which we now need feedback on before the full suite of changes go out to a referendum in the Summer Term.

You can hear more about all of the proposed changes at this open meeting in Medicine. The meeting will be chaired by President Clem Jones and other members of staff and the Sabbatical Officer team will also be in attendance. This will provide a great opportunity to ask any questions or voice any concerns that you may have!

If you can't make the meeting, don't worry! We're on campus from Monday 18 - Wednesday 20 March, where you'll have an opportunity to ask us about the proposed changes and have your say on them.
