Join us as we come together to mark the end of Ramadan & celebrating Eid el Fitr with Eid prayer in the Founder’s South Quad.
What is Eid al-Fitr?
Eid al-Fitr is an Islamic holiday celebrating the end of the holy month of Ramadan (the month of fasting). Muslims around the world gather with loved ones, share meals, give to those in need, and thank God for their blessings strength and resilience gained during Ramadan.
Why is the Eid prayer performed?
The Eid prayer is a special congregational prayer held on the morning of Eid. It brings the community together in unity and celebration. It is a moment to thank god for their blessings given & remember those who are in need, starting the day of Eid with reflection and joy.
Eid el Fitr lasts for one day, and is expected to take place on either Thursday 19 March or Friday 20 March, depending on the sighting of the moon. Keep an eye on the Chaplaincy and Women Students Community Officer social for further information.
