So, what on earth is SHAG week? Sounds a little bit rude... Well, SHAG stands for Sexual Health Awareness and Guidance, and this is a light hearted week with a serious message: the importance of safe sex.
This year's SHAG week has a grooovy 60s and 70s theme, so why not dress up (optional), and celebrate free (safe) love at one of the week's events:

This year the LGBT is more involved with SHAG Week than ever before and the highlight is the Rainbow Rave on Tues 30th Nov in Medicine from 9pm. The Rainbow Rave is without doubt one of the biggest events of the first term and is a charity and society fundraiser. Entry is just a donation to charity. Come as a colour from the rainbow, or as an entire rainbow with your friends!!
With competitions, special guests, and the best music (write your requests on the Facebook Wall. Search Rainbow Rave, or Royal Holloway LGBT Society), it is sure to not only remove any gay preconceptions you may have but also give you one of the best nights of your time at RoHo!!

LGBT present: What it Means To Come Out
5pm, Gowar Common Room, FREE
All are welcome to come and listen to speakers and chat about what 'Coming Out' means to different people.
What It Means to Come Out
Finally, on Fri 3rd Dec there will be a discussion of what it means to actually come out as being gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender with a range of RHUL students and staff sharing thoughts, experiences, advice and also a bit more information on Civil Partnerships. The discussion is open to everyone, with one of the main purposes being to not only provide a chance for people who are unsure of their sexuality to come and listen to others talk about their experiences (don’t worry - you won’t be asked to participate or even to give your name), but to allow people who are friends of LGBT students who may feel they themselves need some kind of support as they have found they are unsure about what this change will mean for their friendship, just want some advice (or to offer some) or feel that they’re a bit overwhelmed by the news.
This is taking place in Gowar Common Room from 5pm on Fri 3rd Dec and will hopefully show people there is more to the LGBT than socializing!
