This year there has been some changes to the academic structure at Royal Holloway which includes the move from a six-school system to a three-faculty system and the merging of some departments.
You can find more information about why this is happening and answers to FAQs here on the Student Intranet.
Due to this, we have adapted how our rep system works. Take a look at the changes we have made and how this will benefit our student leaders!
What’s changed?
- This year we will be introducing Department Reps to represent each department. There will be 1 department rep per academic department totalling 12.
- These Department Reps will be overseen by a Faculty Rep, with one student holding this role per Faculty.
- Students will be elected to these 15 roles in the Community Elections in May rater than the Leadership Elections.
This means there will be nine new positions available for students, increasing opportunities for students to get involved and allow for more students to influence key decision makers.
What’s staying the same?
We will still have Course Reps and Senior Course Reps, and these students will close the feedback loop with and escalate issues to their Department Rep who works closely with their Faculty Rep to foster a constant flow of feedback.
How does this benefit our student leaders?
Benefits of being a rep still include:
- Gaining CV Building Skills
- Rewards and recognition throughout the year, including an invite to the Summer Voice BBQ
- Leadership Opportunities
- Access to specialised training throughout the role, including an invite to Student Leader Conference in June.

How can I get involved?
