Once again, the lovely weather perfectly complemented some fantastic results on the fields of play. Even though the cool chill began to kick in as the sun was setting, it was great to see the support received for the sports playing at this time. Particularly with the four Netball teams who all stayed to watch games after their own.

What Went Down?

Men’s Hockey first Xl started the day positively with a tightly contested 2-1 win over UCL third's. Results went from strength to strength with Fencing bringing home a Men’s and Women’s first team win against Queen Mary, Men’s Football second Xl beating Roehampton 4-2 on Nobles, and Lacrosse earning a 10-4 victory against Kingston on home turf up at Eastfields.

The highlight sport this week was Netball, they completed three out of three wins at home this week with great support, like I mentioned earlier.

The first and second teams began at 3pm with their charismatic coach Shelly supporting from the side. The first team completed a 43-30 victory against Chichester 2nds, while the second team dominated Buckingamshire New 1st to secure a 43-14 win.

Later on, after the sun had set, the fourth team competed against Brunel 6ths in what was probably the game of the day. Entering the final minute one point down, the girls fought back to earn a dramatic 34-33 victory. It was fantastic to see the support on the side which helped the girls push through until the very end to earn the points. Well done to everyone involved!

The good vibes continued as Women’s Rugby first XV came away victorious once again in a vicious match against Canterbury, claiming the bonus point with a 32-10 win.

Once again, thank you to all who competed this week and special well done to those who got the win! I would just like to include a special mention to the Women’s Volleyball team who unfortunately could not get to their game on time because of a flat tyre with their mini-bus. Everyone involved was okay but it meant that they could not compete in a fixture they were confidently going to win. So good luck to them when they rearrange and play their match.

As always, make sure you keep tagging @SURHUL on Instagram so that we can share your posts and see how you are getting on!
